By Sinéad Breen Donegal PRO Mon 16th Mar

Registration 2015

The deadline for 2015 club membership is approaching rapidly and all club members are asked to submit their registration form and fee at their earliest convenience. Some key points to bear in mind:-

· Paid up members will receive preference for tickets to Donegal’s championship matches, including All-Ireland final tickets.

· In order to be entitled to the rights of a full member, a person must have their fees paid to the club on a date before March 31st and be registered by the club on the online system in order to have a vote in the upcoming membership year.

· Only fully registered players on the GAA online registration system are allowed to take the field for the club. If your name is not in this system you are ineligible. That has repercussions in terms of insurance cover for injuries.

· Registration is an important component in meeting the running costs of the club.

· Only fully paid up members will be eligible for the annual draw for tickets to the football and hurling All Ireland finals.

Membership can be paid to Mary Matthews at Shannon’s Corner. Players can also download registration forms from aodhruadh.org and submit this along with the relevant fee directly to their manager.

Hurling

Hard luck to the Donegal minors who lost to Derry in their first round game in Division 1 of the Ulster League on Saturday in Letterkenny. In a close fought game the Oak Leaf men ran out narrow winners 2-12 to 1-11. Brendan Gillespie and Oisín Rooney (0-1) made the starting 15, Stephen Connolly and Adam Brennan are also on the panel, they play Down in Downpatrick this Saturday.

Well done to Orlaith Gillespie who completed her Foundation Level Hurling Course on Saturday last, hopefully she will put what she learned into practise in her role as a selector with the under 12s.

The underage hurling leagues begin next week with the minors at home to Setanta on Thursday 26th March. The under 14s are away to Setanta, with the date for this game to be confirmed.

Our neighbours Erne Gaels are having a hurling revival day this Saturday and as part of the festivities our under 8s and under 10s will be taking part in a number of exhibition games in Belleek. Details will be circulated during the week.

This Friday we are hosting a fun blitz for the following National Schools, Creevy National School, Gaelscoil Éirne and St Catherine’s National School. These schools have been receiving hurling coaching for the last few months as part of Aodh Ruadh Park Committee’s Coaching Initiative and all schools are looking forward to putting into practise what they’ve learned. Pauric Dowdall of Ulster GAA will be attending this blitz.

The ninth Annual Hurl-a-thon takes place on Saturday 11th April. This is always a great day’s fun and craic so please support this event.

Best wishes to Pauric Keenaghan, who suffered a serious injury on Sunday, hopefully he will make a full recovery and be back in action soon again.
