Allianz Football Roinn 1 – Encouraging Donegal performance

There were many positives to be taken from Donegal’s 0-19 to 2-13 draw with Mayo on Saturday evening despite Paddy Durkan’s late goal taking the gloss of an encouraging performance and very briefly leaving a bitter taste in the mouth. It was but a fleeting reaction to the dis-appointment of a league point suddenly whipped away and credit to Mayo who, true to tradition, battled throughout despite playing second fiddle in many areas and remaining within striking distance throughout.

A full stand and bumper crowd witnessed an entertaining match with plenty of high-quality football. It could still prove to be a valuable league point for both sides and for Donegal there was the added bonus of Allianz league debuts for Conor O’Donnell, Andrew McLean and Jeaic McKelvey as well as a welcome return for Eoghan Ban who glided around the pitch as if he had never been away.

Go raibh maith agaibh to the young footballers from Naomh Bríd and St Michael’s who provided the half-time game.
