Completion of the All-County Leagues

CLG Dhún na nGall CCC met last night to discuss fixtures over the next month in the All County Leagues, while also fixing dates for the deferred 2020 Senior County Final and the Intermediate Relegation Playoff and looked ahead to playing the 2021 Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure championships.

There is a considerable number of catch-up games, some of them already being pushed further into the future and others at risk. This necessitated a fresh look at the existing fixture schedule. The key objectives were to:

  • Get the league stages of Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 finished before commencement of County Championships;
  • Ensure the two deferred games from 2020 – the Senior County Final and the Intermediate Relegation Playoff are played before commencement of the 2021 championships; and
  • Start the 2021 championships on the weekends set out on the existing Master Fixture List.

Dates for the deferred 2020 games have already been published, namely Aug 14th for the Senior County Final and Aug 28th for the Intermediate Relegation Playoff. It is planned to stream both the County Final and the Intermediate Relegation Playoff.

There are currently five catch-up games to be played in Brian McCormick Division 1. Three of these involve Realt an Mara which creates particular scheduling problems. The club are constricted by the Covid 10-day rule and their catch-up game against Na Cealla Beaga on Friday July 30 is now off. It is currently hoped to play their Sunday August 1 game against St Michaels. Division 1 catch up games will, however, stretch into the third week of August – Realt na Mara’s catch-up game against county finalists CLG Chill Chartha has been set for Wednesday Aug 18. Rounds 8 and 9 are now scheduled for the weekends commencing Aug 20-22 and 27-29. Division 1 catch-up games are:

  • Gaoth Dobhair v Cloich Cheann Fhaola;
  • Glenswilly v Ardara;
  • Kilcar v Realt an Mara;
  • Na Cealla Beaga v Realt na Mara;
  • Realt na Mara v St Michaels.

Marley Travel Division 2 is similar as Termon have three fixtures to catch up and St Nauls and Downings each have two. With the Covid 10 day rule excluding Downings from playing on either Friday July 31 or Sunday August 1 there will also be at least one midweek game in Division 2.  It is planned to get all catch-up games in Division 2 played by August 12th and Rounds 8 and 9 are scheduled for the weekends of August 13-15 and August 20-22, respectively.  Catch up games in Division 2 are:

Downings v Convoy;

Downings v Termon;

St Nauls v Naomh Columba;

St Nauls v Termon;

For both Divisions 3 and 4, the CCC have scheduled all catch-up games to be completed by the weekend of August 6-8 and to play Rounds 8 and 9 on the weekends of August 13-15 and August 20-22, respectively.

Currently it is planned to have the Division 5 Leagues, North and South both finished by the weekend of August 6-8 and have the Division 5 League final – played between the winners of each of these two divisions – on the following weekend Aug 14-15.

The dates, times and venues for all of these catch-up league fixtures will be published this week, although there will be a health warning attached as further incidents of Covid could necessitate more changes.

Rescheduling of all Reserve League games, across all divisions, has not yet been completed. Nor have dates been set yet for the relegation play-offs for the Leagues.
