CLG Dhún na nGall

 

Tráth na gCeist Bord:          A total of eleven clubs took part in Tráth na gCeist Bord in the Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday 22nd February. The clubs who took part are as follows. Naomh Adhamhnáin, Gaeil Fhánada, Gleann Fhinne, Aodh Ruadh BAS, Naomh Columba, Carn Domhnach, Naomh Conaill, Cloich Cheann Fhaola, An Clochán Liath, Na Ceithre Maistrí agus Bun a’ Phobail. Ag deireadh bhí an bua ag Gaeil Fhánada le Aodh Ruadh BAS sa dara áít agus Carn Domhnach sa tríú áit. Bhí babhta ceannais Uladh in Ard Mhacha ar an 1ú Márta agus rinne an trí chlub seo ionadaíocht ar son Dún na nGall. Comhghairdeas le Aodh Rua BAS a fuair fríd go babhta ceannais Tráth na gCeist Bord na hÉireann atá anois athbhunaithe i bPáirc an Chrócaigh mar pháirt de Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha i mí na Nollaig.

Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha:            Ghlac 12 club as Dún na nGall páirt i 2019 agus tá seo ag cuir feabhas mór ar chúrsaí Gaeilge ins na clubanna atá páirteach le trí bliain anuas.

 

 

Tuarascáil ar chúrsa Cuimhneacháin Shéamuis de Faoite 2019

Fáiltiú – Welcome:     Le cois an choiste, i láthair ag an fáiltiú ar maidin Dé Luain bhí iar Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh Michael Hasson. The former President of Comhairle Uladh CLG was in attendance on the Monday morning to welcome all those taking part in this year’s course.

Oscailt Oifigiúil – Official Opening: Uactarán Comhairle Uladh CLG officially opened the course on Monday evening and the Blessing of the course was carried out by Fr. Charlie Byrne and the Reverend Brian Smeaton. Chuir Oliver Galligan failte roimh achán duine a bhí i láthair. Oliver talked about the importance of the GAA ensuring that all aspects of the association are catered for and he expressed his pride in the fact that Comhairle Uladh CLG continues to promote our National language by sponsoring the course in Downings. Labhair Mick McGrath, cathaoirleach CLG Dhún na nGall ag an oscailt oifigiúil agus bhí Aideen Gillen, rúnaí CLG Dhún na nGall ansin chomh maith.

Ceisteanna agus Freagraí:   Bhí Fergus Mac Aoidh mar chathaoirleach agus ar an bpaineal do na ceisteanna agus freagraí bhí Brian McAvoy Rúnaí Comhairle Uladh CLG, Edel Ní Chuireáin, Bainisteoir Réigiúin RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta agus Seán Ó Daimhín, Oifigeach Seirbhísí Gaeilge le Comhairle Contae Dhún na nGall. Bhain an slua mór a bhí i láthair sult as an ocáid seo

Ranganna – Classes:  All five teachers worked hard throughout the week with classes each day from 10.30am – 3.00pm. This year there was one Bun Rang, one Ard Rang and three Meán Ranganna. This catered for all levels and the feedback on the quality of the classes was generally very positive.

Freastal – Attendance:          Bhí 125 cláraithe ar an chúrsa.

Ceolcoirm – Dé Máirt bhí slua man mhór i láthair ag an cheolchoirm a bhí chomh mór mhór i nGaeilge agus ag leath ama sheol Comhairle Chontae Dhún na nGall an Chumainn Ghaelaigh. Seo an chead Comhairle Contae in Éirinn chun a leithid seo a dhéanadh agus ba mhór an onóir dúinn gur ag an chúrsa a rinne siad seo. I measc na daoine ó’n chomhairle chontae a bhí i láthair bhí Róise Nic Laifeartaigh Oifigeach na Gaeilge, Liam Mac a’ Bhaird, Stiúrthóir Seirbhíse. An Comhairleoir Contae, Noreen McGarvey agus rinne Niall Comer, Uachtárán Chonradh na Gaeilge agus leachtóir Gaeilge in Ollscoil Uladh an seoladh.

 

Leacht:                       Jamie Ó Tuama – Oifigeach Teanga Cultúr agus Oidhreachta as Páirc an Chrócaigh  gave the lecture on the Wednesday night and this generated a great deal of interaction during the Questions & Answers session. Máire de Faoite  presented Jamie with Corn Cuimhneacháin Shéamuis de Faoite at the end of the night.

Diardaoin bhí Aifreaqnn agus Céilí Mór:  Aifreann:       The Mass on the Friday which was celebrated by Fr. Charlie was offered in memory of those who were former attendees of the course who have passed on. Bhí slua mór ag an céilí indiaidh an aifreann agus bhain achán duine sult as an oíche.

Na Fáinní:      Bhí Réamonn Ó Ciaráin – Gael Linn i láthair tráthnóna Dé hAoine chun scrúdú a dhéanadh oraibh siúd a chuir a gcuid ainmneacha chun tosaigh do’n fáinne ór agus rinne na múinteoirí agallamh oraibh siúd a chuir iad féin chun tosaigh do’n fáinne Airgid agus suaitheantais cúpla focal. Go hiomlán bronnadh ocht suaitheantas cúpla focal, Naoi fáinne airgid agus cúig fáinne óir.

Bronnadh – Presentations:    At the banquet and night of music, song and recitation at Ostán na trá in Downings on the Friday night Corn Cuimhneacháin Paddy McFlynn was presented to the person who showed the greatest improvement in the language during the course of the week (Teresa McCabe) while Corn Cuimhneacháin Thomás Ó Cuilinn was presented to the person who has contributed to the course over the years (Gerry McElwee)
