Buncrana GAA Notes for Week Ending Sunday 28th July 2014

Senior Training

Seniors & Minors Hurling training is on Wednesdays at 7.00pm. All players are urged to make every effort to attend.

Seniors, Reserves, U-18, & U21 Football training is on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7.30 in the Scarvey. New players always welcome!

Senior Ladies

Buncrana 2-14 St Nauls 5-3 Our Senior Ladies qualified for the County semi-final after a hard fought game against a very good St Naul’s team in an outstanding team performance. The girls were a credit to their club with their never-say-die attitude following two massive setbacks at the start of each half. Well done to all involved.

Training every Wednesday at 7.30 in the Scarvey. New members always welcome.

Club Jerseys

Elizabeth Anne is now taking orders for the new Buncrana club jersey. Keep in mind lads that they are player fit/tight fit. If you want to order one let her know the size and number on back you require, price €50. EA also has club shorts and white shorts are in stock.

Underage Reports

U15’s qualified for the Northern final. The lads played well in their first 3 games, winning 2 and drawing 1, before running out of steam in the last game against a strong St Eunan’s team. Best of luck to them in the final.

Well done to Liam O’Doherty who came 2nd at the county hurling skills competition last Saturday. Well done to all the Club Members who took part in the competition.

Summer BBQ at the Scarvey

This is one social event you don’t want to miss! The Club’s Annual BBQ will be held in the Scarvey on Saturday 16th August starting at 8pm. This event is open to everyone and a great night’s entertainment is guaranteed. Music is by the ever-popular ‘Inch Ramblers’. For your €10 you get top-class entertainment and fed with 2 burgers or Hot Dogs. Tickets on sale now or simply turn up on the night…and pray for good weather in the meantime (but we’ll put up the marquee in any case!).

Annual Family Sports Day

Our annual and very popular Family Sports Day will take place on Sunday 3rd August in the Scarvey, starting at 2.30pm. There will be a range of events and activities to suit kids of all ages (and the Mums and Dads too!). The Sports Day is open to everyone in the community, not just Club members, and is part of Buncrana GAA’s ongoing community development work. Buncrana GAA – Better Together.

Club Lotto

No winner in last week’s Lotto. The numbers drawn were 1,4,10,13. As the Jackpot wasn’t won we then held the €500 monthly draw took place in Phil Hegarty’s and was won by Willie McLaughlin Winkers who purchased his ticket in Phil’s just before the draw was held. A great night’s fun was had by all but Willie’s cheque had dwindled quite a bit by the end of the night. Thanks to Patsy and Siobhan for the use of their premises for the draw.

St Vincent de Paul Fundraiser

Clubman David Cullen and 15 friends are seeking your support for a ‘Malin to Mizen’ fundraising cycle in aid of the local St Vincent de Paul.
